CM-LIC — Life Insurance / Commission module marker (CMFAS new regime)

Back to Industry Standards

Previous Next

Module Identifier

  • Harvester source id: CMFAS-CM-LIC
  • Effective: 1 April 2024 (under MAS Notice SFA 04-N22 and MAS Notice FAA-N26)

Source-extract scope

The IBF "Implementation of New Capital Markets and Financial Advisory Services Examinations (CMFAS Exams)" announcement (the authoritative source for this entry) tabulates the new CMFAS RES, RESP and Product Knowledge modules: RES 1A, RES 1B, RES 1BE1, RES 2A, RES 2B, RES 2BE1, RES 2BE2, RES 2BE3, RES 12B, RES 3, RES 4, CM-EIP, CM-SIP, CM-CMP and RESP 10. The announcement does not contain a per-row "CM-LIC" entry under that exact name. Life insurance commission and conduct content under the FAA competency framework is administered through the broader CMFAS regime; per-module specifications (questions, duration, fee, syllabus) are released separately on the IBF website.

Per feedback_kb_pruning_not_versioning.md and CLAUDE.md non-negotiable #9 (no fabrication), this file does not invent a "CM-LIC" specification that the source extract does not contain.

Naming convention (verbatim from announcement §5.1)

(b) The exam modules on "Product Knowledge" will be renamed accordingly to reflect the new securities and derivatives product classifications under the SFA.

Passing marks (verbatim from announcement §5.3)

(b) 70% for the CMFAS Product Knowledge Exam modules.

Syllabus details

Per the IBF announcement: per-module syllabus details are available on IBF website from 1 February 2024 — see https://www.ibf.org.sg for the syllabus PDF that corresponds to this module marker.
